Kevin Frazier

Professional Musician, Promoter, Venue Booking and Management, over 35 Years in the Music Industry

EARLY LIFE AND CAREER

Kevin started his career in the music industry as a professional saxophone player and vocalist. He had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Huey Lewis, Marty Balin, Elvin Bishop, Red Archibald, Davey Pattison’s Big Muddy, and many others. While in LA Kevin owned and operated a 24 track recording studio and produced his first original CD titled Gemini. During his 10 years in LA he promoted bands, booked venues for new artists and produced many record demos to help artists land record deals.

In the early 90’s Kevin decided to move back home to the SF Bay Area and continue his musical path. He joined 21st Century Media and produced an interactive Music CD titled “Prestige Studios of the World”. This CD was the first of its kind and featured Quicktime VR tours of Narada Michael Walden’s studio in Marin, and Dave Stewart’s (The Eurythmics) studio “The Church” in London. There were 10 studio’s on the CD and it was distributed by Mix Magazine.

Kevin was always interested in technology and when the internet started to grow rapidly he saw an opportunity to launch a new company called “Adace”. His vision was that the yellow pages were going to go away (which they did) and everyone would find things by searching the internet. He raised 2 million dollars and set-up shop in Berkeley California with 24 employees and created the first automated small business advertising company to help local businesses reach customers online (before google adwords, and Facebook).

After Adace Kevin started to focus back on his music career both as a musician and a promoter. He began networking throughout the SF Bay Area and listening to new artists and upcoming bands. He remembers meeting Pat Monahan from the band Train, and told him that he and his band were going to skyrocket to the top soon and a few years later they won a Grammy. Then he met Gabi Wilson (H.E.R) and even played sax with her. He again said “you are going to have a huge career in the music business” and now she is one of the biggest selling R&B artists in the industry, and could become the biggest ever! Kevin is not taking any credit for the success these artists have had, but merely pointing out he has an ear for talent.

As General Manager for the Empress Theatre in Vallejo, California, Kevin took a mid-sized non-profit theatre that was primarily focused on the local music scene and brought them to the national stage. He started booking artists like Yngwie Malmsteen, Robben Ford, Stanley Jordan, Tower of Power, Boney James, Mindi Abair, Paul Taylor, Jon B, Katchafire, and many others. It was also his ability to diversify the offerings at the theatre by booking Las Vegas magicians, symphony and chamber quartets, songwriting competitions, stage plays, USA amatuer boxing, multi-cultural events, and even a “Ladies Night Out”!

Since leaving the theatre Kevin has teamed up with Jeff Trager to promote even bigger shows, concerts, and music festivals. The goal is to bring major artists into town and then take some of the best local bands as opening acts to get them the exposure they deserve!
